APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS
The basic accounts and the principles which AAMC operates these accounts are as follows:
All contributions are appropriated exactly as designated. Undesignated contributions are appropriated to the General Fund.
General Fund Account: This fund pays for office expenses, publicity expenses, mailing expenses, heat, light, and rent. When missionaries went to the field, half the cost of shipping our materials field equipment (such as the truck) and other supplies is deducted from our General Fund.
Missionaries Accounts: At the writing of this book were Martha Thompson, Dorothy Evans, Wenona Jennings, Daphne Henderson, W. Kenneth Thorpe and family, and Andrew D. Trusty and family.
Bopolu Bible Missions: Field Support (cost of maintaining and operating the mission station), children (cost of maintaining and feeding the orphan children at Bopolu Bible Mission). Evangelistic Fund (pays indigenous workers and Deacons of the church to help in evangelizing the nearby towns).
In addition, you may contribute for or towards and special item by simply indicating this when you send your contributions.
Quiet Faith Mission at Work (How AAMC operates as a Faith Mission)
Often, we are asked many questions about how a faith mission works. We have put together a list of the eight most FAQs. These questions include (1) How are missionaries supported? (2) Do they have enough money each month? (3) What happens if they do not get enough? (4) Do you take a certain percentage of the money that comes in for each missionary for overhead expenses? (5) How do you pay the expenses of running your office such as heat, light, equipment, telephones, and the like? (6) How do you get the money to pay all these salaries? (7) How much of the money I give to the organization goes toward salaries? (8) Why should I send money to a missionary through your board when I can send it directly to the missionary and not have to worry about paying your overhead expenses.
To each question, we have a simple answer. Each missionary receives every penny that is sent to them through the board. Nothing is deducted from contributions to a particular missionary to help pay office expenses. The total monies received for a particular missionary each month is expended according to the missionary’s wishes. All office expenses are paid from the general fund including office equipment, postage, weekly stipends, all charges for missionaries going overseas.
The General fund is funded from undesignated contributions, funds designated specifically for the General Fund and by contributions made by Board Members. No funds designated for any missionary or any other project goes to the General Fund.
The officers nor board members receive any honoraria, stipends, or donations for any work or speaking engagements on behalf of AAMC. Those contributions are given to the general fund and to missionaries as the Lord enables them.
We often receive inquiries from people sending funds directly to missionaries and subsequential may not receive notification of receipt. Mail sent to a foreign country is subject to different procedures. Mail has a greater opportunity to become lost or stolen. Funds sent by the Board are channeled directly from a US bank to a bank in Monrovia, Liberia. Thus, funds are not lost or stolen. Additionally, the Board records all funds receives and can supplement the amount received by a missionary if the funds received by the missionary is not enough to support expenses. We request the Board be notified if a person still decides to make a direct contribution.
For these many years God has been faithful. We give Him the glory. We say over these 75 years, this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.
